New York City airports saw record passengers in 2013, officials announced Monday.

JFK Airport had roughly 50 million passengers, including 26 million international passengers, last year, setting new records, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

LaGuardia Airport set a new annual record for most international passengers, with approximately 1.6 million in 2013.

“While the effects of the recession linger for far too many people, we are pleased at the continued growth in passengers at our airports, which means great news on a host of related fronts, but especially for direct and indirect job creation, and our regional economy,” Port Authority head Pat Foye said in a statement.

Commercial airports operated by the authority in both states set an all-time record with an estimated 111.6 million total passengers — surpassing 2007′s count by over 1.5 million.
